Let me introduce myself...

I am a dependable and responsible adult with many years of experience working with animals. Trained in caring for many different types of animals, I am sure to be comfortable and confident when caring for your beloved, furry friend.
Raised around horses, I was the owner/manager of 'Quality English Riding Instruction', a horseback riding lesson program that focused on teaching children ages 4 and up in a stress free, super friendly environment. My program was very hands on and focused on teaching all of my students the important basics of riding and to always put safety first. I leased my own 5 stall barn and was the main caregiver to my horses 7 days a week. Along with the lesson program, I have been riding, training, showing, and caring for horses for over 20 years.
I also have about 10 years experience as a small animal veterinary technician. I am 100% comfortable with giving your pet medications, injections, and tending to most other medical needs.
My love of animals has also encouraged my interest in training my own dogs over the years. My 2 year old Chocolate Lab, Hayden, is currently in training for his Canine Good Citizen Award (CGC), has been Temperament Tested (ATTS) and will become a Therapy dog through TDI (Therapy Dog International) in September.
Along with my love of animals, I also love working with children, which is why I returned back to school a year ago. I am now currently enrolled full time at the College of Staten Island to complete my Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education. I am also planning to continue through to get my Masters in Special Ed. I am very excited and extremely interested in getting on way to finishing my degree and starting to teach!
I am currently interning with 'Strategies for Success'. This is a tutoring program that works with children in low income neighborhoods in Staten Island. I have been a mentor/tutor to many K - 2nd graders at a community center in Stapleton this past semester. Although very challenging, it is an extremely rewarding program for both the mentors and students.  In the past I have also volunteered at my church to teach the CCD classes after school. I plan to do that again in the future as my school/work schedule allows.

My Philosophy

I believe that along with just being an "animal lover", anyone caring for your pet also needs to be educated and trained to do so properly. It is important to understand animal behavior and animal handling. With my years of experience working with horses, dogs, and cats, (as well as many other furry, feathered or squirmy creatures) I am confident that i can safely care for your pets, whether they need a daily walk while you are at work, or medication given while you are on vacation. Any situation will be treated with maturity, responsibility and level headed-ness, with your pet's best interest in mind. I will care for your furry family members as if they were my own!
